h. Chinaski R.I.P. 2000

* a bare-basic trio driven by tonal enlightenment and pure love of music.

* h.Chinaski formed in late ‘97, the brainchild of myself and lifelong friend/bandmate Todd Lemiesz. Within a few weeks, we found ourselves linking together as many fine pre-CBS Fender products as we could and playing out live as a guitar/drum duo. h.Chinaski also started the first album soon to be titled “Smaller-sized Jar with an Idea”. Armed with an analog 4-track and a two-room studio in Oshkosh, WI, a true journey into the lo-fi had begun. After three months of faulty microphones and low-budget screenprinting via the local “art supply” stores, the album was complete.

* The summer of ‘98 was spent reuniting with longtime friend and drummer of 8 years, Chad Lorge, fresh out of Calvary Bible College in Austria. Then, planning a Midwest and West Coast tour as the newly formed h.Chinaski trio. Aside from the loss of two EL-34 power tubes, a 3-amp slo-blo fuse, seven quarts of Valvoline High Performance, and one right front tire, the tour was considered a success. Enter Mike Siddall of Amphetamine Reptile postage development fame.

*In this latest year of our Lord, 1999, we have cultivated a wonderful friendship with Mike and his fledgling record company, doubleplusgood records. The first album has since been released on dpg with new artwork provided by Shepard Fairey and remastered at Burr-Holland studios in Minneapolis.

*Throughout this entire escapade, bands we have supported on tour include: The Farewell Band, Warlord, Compound Red, Spurge, Braid, Akarso, Shiner, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Selby Tigers, and Sarge.

*To briefly describe our goal is very simple. We, as h.Chinaski, want to write, perform, and present in recorded form, music we will stand behind. Until the van driver from the Big Sky says otherwise, this will be our path.
