What a surprise here! I had never heard of H.Chinaski before I received this disc in the mail and I have no idea why. This disc shows a great deal of skill involved and fantastic creativity. I find that they borrow much from Shellac, but not near enough to call it stolen. Let's call it an influence shall we. Their ability to go from pleasant melodies into abrasive, grating guitar and vocals is uncanny. They have the finesse of a professional band and the potential to go places as there is not much in this vein going on. H.Chinaski makes the 3 piece go as far as it possibly can. Watch for their collaboration with Bob Weston due out shortly. This is my pick for band on the verge.
